Family Photos

One element of photography that I really enjoy is capturing the moment. No matter how busy and hectic life can be a simple click of the shutter can freeze time for an instant and capture it forever. A good friend of mine asked me to shoot a few family photos and I wanted to do this sooner than later before the baby isn’t a baby any longer. We selected the perfect spot for the photoshoot at “The Lab” in Costa Mesa, CA. The location fits the hip young couple with their artistic backdrops. We had to work fast in a environment that had a lot of people passing by as well as a baby that couldn’t sit still for too long. Rather than contrived and posed portraits I really wanted the family to be natural. I asked them to interact as they would normally and had them elaborate a little further for the camera when I saw something interesting. I shot mostly using natural lighting and the occasional off-camera flash. What I was then able to capture in the hour we spent there will now last a lifetime and this is one reason that makes photography was special.
